Australia’s Healthy Ageing Biobank involves the collection of blood and urine samples
in order to measure levels of particular blood components, such as proteins .
ASPREE participants who are willing to take part in the Biobank sub-study will be
asked to provide at one ASPREE visit a blood and urine sample that will be stored
and used for future research.
Research using these samples may result in the identification of blood components
that predict disease, increase therapeutic effectiveness or offer novel diagnostic
procedures in the areas of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease and various
types of cancer.
Australia’s Healthy Ageing Biobank is the first of its kind with a focus on older
people.
Biobank is not currently enrolling in the United States.
